By Robert FarmerFlying in the face of the never-ending onslaught of bad economic news, Cohn announced recently that to end the 2008 calendar year, BR Cohn distributed $150,000 to charities through its BR Charity Events division. The money was raised via the annual Fall Music Festival and the Celebrity Golf Classic. Now in its 22nd year, the concert of course featured the Doobie Brothers (who turned in a stellar performance last December, as well, during half time of the Orange Bowl), but also an impressive cast of their contemporaries that included Robert Gray, The Turtles, and Kris Kristofferson. The gala dinner and auction raised $100,000 alone. The annual events have become a reliable source of funding for the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club Valley of the Moon, and other deserving charities.
In the past four years, Cohn has raised more than a million dollars for various deserving charities. We can all agree it’s the kind of good financial news we all like to hear. www.brcohn.com.
