For Pinot fans who aren’t sufficiently “off” the variety as a result of the slew of recent “Pinotgate” allegations, there is an upcoming tasting in the Bay Area sure to satisfy your every Pinot fantasy.  Enter La Paulée de San Francisco, a now-annual wine and food bacchanal inspired by the namesake grand feast held each year in Burgundy at the conclusion of the harvest.  With a bevy of the best names in French Pinot and Chardonnay – not to mention a stellar lineup of star chefs and sommeliers – on the docket, this year’s event looks to be something you won’t want to miss. Taking cues from the French event’s three-day format, the San Fran event will unfold over three days this month (March 11-13) and offers an array of educational events (e.g. a seminar by Burgundy expert “Burghound”) alongside more purely hedonistic affairs (like Friday’s Rare Wine Dinner).  And though tickets for the affair are quite chère (the Rare Wine Dinner will run you a cool $2,750, while Saturday’s highly anticipated Gala Dinner costs $1,400), you’re guaranteed to rub shoulders there with some of Burgundies biggest names – not to mention quaff quite a bit of that good juice while you’re at it.  For more information, scheduling and tickets, visit the event’s web site.
